Plot
Noriko Saotome accepts a position as a teacher in a small countryside village at the behest of her friend Saeko. Saeko picks her up from the train station but on their way to the school, they are stopped by three youths who attack and rape Saeko, before Noriko drives them off with her kendo stick. After settling into her job, Noriko is knocked out. She comes around in the school gymnasium where the three youths have one of her pupils Yuki a prisoner. They promise to let her and Yuki go if Noriko will take them on in a kendo match while she is naked. During this, she is overpowered and raped. Noriko is then invited to dinner by Satoshi Tanokura, Yuki’s uncle, but this proves to be a trap where she is imprisoned in the cellar to be sexually degraded.
Beautiful Teacher in Torture Hell comes from Oniroku Dan (1931-2011), who was a Japanese writer of BDSM erotica. Dan started as a translator of US tv programs and then had success with his first novel Flower and Snake (1974), which was made into a film the same year. I am unable to find a complete English-language listing of how many books Dan wrote during his lifetime – Goodreads lists thirty such, but I have no idea whether this is exhaustive. The IMDB lists 83 films he has either written or are based on his books. As far as I am aware, all of his works falls under the label of Erotica with a specific focus on BDSM.
You are taken aback by the initial scenes in Beautiful Teacher in Torture Hell. A couple of scenes in Ran Masaki and Izumi Shima are attacked and Izumi raped by the gang of youths until Ran drives them off with her kendo stick. This is followed by the scene where Ran is made to engaged in a kendo fight in the gymnasium while naked, before being overcome by pupils who proceed to rape her. This made me think that we were very much in for a film in the vein of I Spit on Your Grave (1978). I do have to say here that I am not in favour of erotica that entails depictions of rape, but standards were very different in Japan in the 1970s/80s. Furthermore, Onriko Dan was writing in the arena of BDSM erotica and you should more correctly place Beautiful Teacher in Torture Hell in the same arena as The Story of O (1954) or Fifty Shades of Grey (2011) and sequels, which are erotic works about women who are subs in BDSM relationships.
After 35 minutes, Ran Masaki is tied up in the cellar and undergoes various forms of torture and sexual humiliation. Here the film enters into a quite different realm than these earlier scenes and actually develops a perverse erotic enjoyability. We see Ran being variously tied up naked and hot wax dripped across her body; a cord run back and forward between her legs stimulating her as the beastly Nobutaka Masutomi then eats her out. A liquid is squirted up her butt (it is hard to see exactly what as genitalia are gauzed out as they characteristically are in Japanese porn) and she placed in a large fish tank of water where we see her trying to hold it in but ends up voiding herself. Later Saori Mizuno gets in the tank and makes out with Ran. An aphrodisiac is slowly dripped onto Ran’s pussy making her insatiable for Nobutaka’s cock.
The appealing end of the film [PLOT SPOILERS] shows best friend Izumi Shima at the train station, apparently now released after having fulfilled her task to lure Ran Masaki there. This is followed by the niece Saori Mizuno entering a room in her uncle’s house that is empty except for by a suit of armour against one wall and opening the visor to reveal a happy and contented Ran inside.
